Red Shouldered Hawk on Nest

April 14, 2009 Taken in the yard. We have had a pair of hawks nesting on our land the last two years. This year the ice storm took out their tree and I had been unable to find the new nest. I went out in the yard to photograph wildflowers with my 24-70 lens. When I got to the wood sorrel, I was wantig to shoot, the hawk flew to the nest and was raising hell as I was evidently too close. I took a few pics with that lens, but I had to crop too much and lost alot of detail. I went back in the house and got the 200-400 on the camera. By the time I got back she was resting comfortably on the nest. I sat for almost an hour and she never moved. Tomorrow is another day.
